“This was a very special evening, said Beverly Balaz, chamber president, of the event that recognized two very distinctive honorees. Ken Kleban, president of Kleban Properties LLC, accepted the 2016 Company of the Year award and Dr. Donna Twist, executive director of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center,, accepted the 2016 Non-Profit of the Year award.
"Both the Kleban Properties LLC and Norma Pfriem Breast Center have immensely contributed to the community in a variety of different ways, providing education, help and support where they can … and as such, we wanted to acknowledge and recognize their contributions, accomplishments and achievements,” Balaz said.
The mission of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center is to provide the most exceptional care to those in need, for both men and women through education, screening, diagnosis and state-of-the art treatment, said a chamber press release.
Through its educational outreach initiative, which promotes early screening and detection, one of its main goals is to help women who are uninsured or underinsured gain access to the center’s care, the press release said.
Kleban Properties LLC is a five-generation family-owned business that operates office, retail and mixed-use properties in seven states.
Known for its commitment to aesthetics and maintenance, its reputation reflects high-quality, meticulous upkeep and architectural design, said the press release.
Ken Kleban is an 18-year veteran of the Weston Volunteer Department, serves on the board of directors of the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport and is a member of the advisory board to the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University.
Awards also were given to Joe Rog, director of development for the Fairfield Theatre Company, and Deb Gran, customer service manager for People’s United Bank, for their leadership as chamber board of directors co-chairs.
