The visit was set up to allow an exchange of information between healthcare professionals from the United Kingdom and the United States.

Those who attended were senior or mid-career level administrators and clinical healthcare professionals. They came from National Health Services establishments in the U.K. During the visit, Jewish Senior Services of Fairfield shared the challenges of caring for the aging, and how those issues are dealt with. It included both financial and operational information.

“It was a privilege to be able to host our colleagues from Yale and the United Kingdom as part of their visit to the United States,” said Andrew Banoff, Jewish Senior Services president and CEO. “We explored and discussed many mutual challenges and opportunities that enhanced our collective understanding of the healthcare systems and our ability to provide quality services to seniors.”

He added, “Of particular interest was Jewish Senior Services new household model of care which provided delegates an opportunity to focus on the most innovative form of nursing care in the United States.”

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a partial funder of the Yale University Global Health and Social Care Leadership Programme. Elizabeth Bradley, faculty director, attended along with a U.K. colleague. They established the program to help create solutions to problems that are commonly faced in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and to prepare the UK National Health Service leadership staff.
