First Selectman Mike Tetreau, Bill Domieka of the RTM, state Reps. Brenda Kupchick (R-132) and Kim Fawcett (D-133) were on-hand for the opening ceremonies.

CrossFit KMK is owned by Jamie DeFelice, a longtime local Fairfield resident who lives in the town with his family and also works as a strength coach and firefighter for the city of Stamford.

"Jamie's vast experience as a firefighter has resulted in him receiving several awards for his life-saving work. Put this together with his unparalleled work in strength and conditioning, and here is one super qualified and insightful coach," a press release said. "He is particularly proud of his extensive work with members of the military, police and firefighters."

DeFelice's focus is to "explain how intensity and duration will play a role in attaining members goals, along with a resolute focus on the other positive attributes of CrossFit - belonging to a community, working hard with that community, and making each and every person accountable for their own workouts," according to the press release.

DeFelice said in the release that he believes and strongly encourages an all-inclusive program, scaling and tailoring the training to accommodate all levels.
