"It's the perfect blend of health and taste," said Simran Lamba, the franchise owner. The yogurt is between 10 and 45 calories per ounce, while other yogurt shops are generally between 90 and 120 calories per ounce, he said. The yogurt also contains no artificial ingredients or sweeteners. Customers can mix and match 21 flavors of frozen yogurt, and add their own array of toppings from the toppings bar.

"You can be healthy, or indulge a bit," Lamba said.

Though the sweet, tart and Greek yogurts are the most popular items on the menu, Lamba said customers also enjoy the wide variety of freshly squeezed fruit juices and smoothies. While other juice and smoothie shops might use frozen ingredients, Lamba said Red Mango makes everything in-house using fresh ingredients.

"You can taste the difference between frozen and fresh," Lamba said.

Red Mango opened up its Fairfield location in November, and Lamba said the reception has been good. He said that he has one customer who suffers from throat cancer who comes in nearly every day for smoothies and juice.

"Customers like her can trust the fact that we're not adding anything like chemicals or changing anything," he said.

The store also has freshly brewed hot and iced coffee, and will soon be adding a cafe bites section where customers will be able to pick up wraps, sandwiches and breakfast.

"Everybody loves the store and the product," said Lamba's mother, Rose, who helps to operate the store. "We've made the whole place comfortable and inviting. It's a beautiful space, everybody loves the toppings bar and all the choices of nuts, fresh fruits, all the delicious toppings. It's a place for special moments with friends and family."

Red Mango is at 1955 Blackrock Turnpike in Fairfield and is open seven days a week.
