This is the company's third location; there is another office in New York City and one in Naples, Italy.

The company's goal: to provide luxury destination weddings in Italy, as well as villa rentals, family reunions and personalized group culinary tours and make those experiences akin to living like a local.

"The most important aspect of Art of Perfection Events is that we are based in the U.S. and follow the client to Italy without making them feel overwhelmed with a travel cost," said Maryla Colandrea who operates the business with her husband, Giuseppe Scotto. "We have many weddings and events every summer in Italy and we divide our travel fairly among each client to bring the cost to very minimal."

Her other point of difference? "Our weddings and events abroad are heartfelt and clients and their guests become part of our family," she said.

Herself a resident of Fairfield, she said it was important to open in Connecticut as many of her clients are from Fairfield, Westport and Greenwich.

Brides are the biggest part of the business, with prime season running from June through October. People often plan a year or more in advance making now a good time to book.

Colandrea and Scotto are there every step of the way-- he takes care of the travel and budget side while she does the "fun" stuff -- as chief wedding planner, designer and problem solver.

She said seeing people enjoy Italy (she's American born to Italian parents; Scotto is from Naples) is her biggest joy. The two childhood sweethearts spend half the year in Fairfield; half on the Amalfi Coast.

"We love what we do and do it for the pleasure of seeing people excited about experiencing a different lifestyle. Not just taking a tour bus but living the tour," said Colandrea.

"Plus, itʼs like I get to get married over and over again and each time, before my beautiful bride walks down the isle, as I fluff her train and fix her veil, I always get emotional because itʼs a journey weʼve taken together that is the chapter to her new beginning."
