The popular restaurant, described as "Farm table meets Gram's table," was opened in 2015 by Michele and Fred Bialek. The couple had met while working at Bertucci's, and opened their first soup and sandwich shop, Liquid Lunch, in Shelton in 2004. They expanded with a second location in Milford in 2007.

After a fire destroyed the original Liquid Lunch on Howe Avenue in 2014, the couple decided to expand their repertoire to fine dining. And thus, GROW was born.

"It is with a melancholy heart that I write this post. GROW restaurant is no longer open," Michele Bialek wrote in a post on GROW's Facebook page.

Bialek wrote that when she and her husband first opened Liquid Lunch 13 years ago, they had a small family and jumped at the opportunity that was offered to them.

"Liquid Lunch was born and we would never have imagined all of the amazing experiences and relationships we enjoyed," she wrote. "We have been blessed to have the opportunity to share what we love with our community."

However, the couple received word that the owners of their building were no longer able to keep it open, and they have been forced to vacate.

"While the news was devastating, Fred and I both feel as if the timing is right to hang up our aprons (for now) and take our lives in a different direction."

They cited responsibilities to their family, but wanted to thank every person who came through the doors of GROW.

"It is because of your dedicated patronage that we were able to stay open as a small business in an awful recession."

They said that they are speaking with locally owned restaurants in an attempt to generate a list of places that will honor GROW gift certificates, and will post a list when it is all set.

"Thank you, GROW family, for filling our hearts with joy and allowing us to feed your souls with our love and passion."
