FAIRFIELD, Conn. – More than 30 Fairfield restaurants are preparing for the town’s first-ever Restaurant Week, which begins Sunday. And now some retail stores and take-out joints have decided to join them in offering special deals next week.
From Sunday, Oct. 14 to Saturday, Oct. 20, restaurants across Fairfield will offer prix-fixe menus with discounted prices at both lunch and dinner. As of Wednesday, 34 restaurants had signed up to participate. The full list is available on the town’s Restaurant Week website.
“Fairfield is fortunate to have a wide variety of quality restaurants and retailers that we want to showcase,” First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a press release. “Restaurant Week gives the public an opportunity to continue visiting favorite places or frequent ones they may not yet know about.”
The Community and Economic Development Department has also organized a “Passport” program for the week. Diners can pick up passports at Fairfield’s Town Halls, its libraries, the Fairfield University Bookstore, the Fairfield Theatre Company or the Bank of Fairfield’s branches. Each restaurant will offer a stamp in the passport. Fairfielders can then enter passports with at least two stamps into a drawing for a night’s stay at the Delamar Hotel in Southport and other prizes.
The passports will also act as a discount card for at least 18 retail stores and take-out food shops across Fairfield. Shoppers who show a passport will get discounts as high as 20 percent off and free giveaways. The list of retailers offering deals to passport holders is available at the town website.
The week’s organizers have also planned special tie-ins with events happening around the downtown area next week. Passports will also give discounts on concerts at the Fairfield Theatre Company on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Other Restaurant Week events include special tours of the Fairfield Museum and History Center’s newest exhibit and lectures at the Fairfield Public Library and the Fairfield University Bookstore.
“We wanted to highlight things to do in Town, as well as places to eat, to create more of a ‘night out’ experience,” Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said in a press release.
