GREENWICH, Conn. — Crowds of shoe lovers are expected to descend on the very first Saks Fifth Avenue store devoted exclusively to footwear, which opens this week in Greenwich.

The store will be unveiled to happy shoppers in Greenwich with a special event on Wednesday evening and with regular hours on Thursday.

The new shop — 10022-SHOE at The Saks Shops At Greenwich — will open in the heart of the town's shopping district at 20 E. Elm St. The one-level, 14,000-square-foot space is around the corner from the main Saks store on Greenwich Avenue.

The new store will nearly triple the number of styles, with 18 new-to-Greenwich footwear labels, including Gianvito Rossi, Balenciaga, Aquazzura, Givenchy, Alexandre Birman, Fendi and Dries Van Noten as well as the Saks offerings of Chanel, Prada, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Christian Dior and Gucci.

To celebrate the grand opening of the standalone shoe store, Saks is partnering with The Greenwich United Way women’s initiative, Sole Sisters, to give back to the local community.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, the eve of the official opening, Saks Fifth Avenue chief merchant Tracy Margolies, ELLE editor-in-chief Robbie Myers, and Aquazzura founder and creative director Edgardo Osorio will host a meet-and-greet and cocktail reception to reveal Saks’ new shoe haven.

Saks is contributing 100 percent of ticket sales to the Oct. 19 events and 10 percent of proceeds from the store’s sales from Oct. 19 to Oct. 23 (for a maximum donation of $10,000) to the Sole Sisters initiative. (Exclusions may apply.)

“I am honored to partner with Greenwich United Way Sole Sisters in celebration of our opening of the 10022-SHOE store," said Joe Gambino, Vice President, General Manager, Saks Shops At Greenwich. “The Greenwich United Way Sole Sisters women’s initiative is a truly remarkable group of women who ‘step up to help others step forward’ and help fund programs and services that assist our community, a community that has strongly supported Saks since our doors first opened more than 20 years ago.”

Sole Sisters, The Greenwich United Way women’s initiative, has raised more than $1.1 million since its inception in 2005. It supports a specific charitable cause each year, and this year’s focus is funding solutions to meet Greenwich’s most critical needs.

“The Greenwich United Way is very excited to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first 10022-SHOE store at the Saks Shops At Greenwich,” said David Rabin CEO of The Greenwich United Way. “Saks has been a great partner over the years, and we truly appreciate the brand’s unwavering support. We look forward to a successful event as well as ongoing friendship with the Saks Shops At Greenwich.”

On Oct. 19, a VIP meet-and-greet with Margolies, Myers and Osorio begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception at 7 p.m. Tickets to the VIP meet-and-greet can be purchased for $500, while cocktail reception tickets are $300.
