Signs posted around the building's property Thursday announce a liquidation sale, this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the restaurant site.

The restaurant was restored in 1983 by the Nistico family and has been a Westport landmark for over 50 years, according to The Red Barn's website.

It specialized in American and Continental cuisine. Each of its rooms was appointed with authentic antiques, which presumably will be sold at the liquidation sale this weekend.

In the past, The Red Barn has earned the distinction of "Best Brunch" in Fairfield County, "Best Continental Dining" in Fairfield County and  "Best Continental Dining" statewide.

The restaurant was located at 292 Wilton Road — just a stone's throw away from the Merritt Parkway.

For a preview of the sale, visit the Simply Estated website.  "The Red Barn has closed, and its contents will be available for purchase at bargain prices," the website says, providing a large selection of photographs of some of the items that will be sold.
