The boutique is taking part in the "American Patchwork & Quilting" magazine challenge to quilters, sewers and crafters to help reach the goal of donating one million pillowcases to local charities.

The event will take place at the boutique, 176 Main St., at 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

No sewing is required; non-sewer's can help by ironing and cutting fabric. Each pillowcase takes one yard of fabric and fabric donations are being accepted.

Last year, Christie's made 300 pillowcases that were donated to Hospice, the Diabetes’s Association, Inspirica, St. Phillips Church and DCF.

Many charities can benefit from the donation of a pillowcase and the challenge gives you the opportunity to donate and make a difference in your community, said Christie Ruiz, the boutique's owner.

Please RSVP by contacting Ruiz at 203-807- 8458 or email at quilt@christiesquiltingboutique.com
