The hike is free and open to the public. “Blueberry Adventure” is designed for children ages 7 to 13 who are accompanied by a parent.
Hikers will join Land Trust Executive Director David Brant for a 45-minute hike that ends at the blueberry patch in Trout Brook Valley. Participants should bring a pail for blueberry picking and are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.
The next free and open-to-the-public adult hike is “Shore Birds and What You Need To Know About Them,” which is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. Hikers will meet at Gilman Avenue in Bridgeport by the sandbar across from Great Salt Marsh Island in Ash Creek.
Milan Bull of the Connecticut Audubon Society will view and discuss osprey, shorebirds and dusk. Bring binoculars and learn about different bird species and the importance of salt marsh conservation.
