Vernona Gomez, the daughter of Yankee Hall of Famer Vernon “Lefty” Gomez and Broadway headliner June O’Dea, is the co-author of “Lefty: An American Odyssey.”

Her talk is dubbed "The Baseball Star and the Broadway Star.” It will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield.

Gomez bounced on Babe Ruth’s knee, made sandcastles with Joe DiMaggio and, as she was growing up, was a tagalong with her parents at All-Star and Old Timers’ games, the World Series, spring training and Cooperstown induction weekends.

A concert pianist, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 8. She will give a rare glimpse into the lives of her iconic parents and early 20th-century America.

Coffee, tea and cookies will be served. This event, part of the University’s Learning for a Lifetime series, is free and open to the public.
