The carnival, now in its 79th year, benefits the Easton Volunteer Fire Company. The carnival started on Tuesday evening and concludes Saturday night, and features attractions such as rides, games, food, and a raffle for a 2014 Mustang.
"We've had pretty good crowds. It's been consistent, and everybody seems to be having fun, which is the most important thing," said Fire Chief Steve Waugh.
The proceeds go toward maintaining the fire station, as well as capital needs. Waugh said they've been saving up from a few carnivals to purchase a new truck, which will serve as both a utility truck and as a skid unit that will help fight brushfires.
The rides were manned by employees of Stewart Amusements, but almost all of the other booths were run by members of the volunteer fire company.
"We're one of the few, if not only, firefighter-run carnivals," Waugh said.
The company is made up of eight career firefighters, and 15 to 20 volunteers. Waugh said that even after retiring from firefighting, many still come back to help out with the carnival year after year.
"We're members of the community, and this is a good opportunity for people to come out and meet the people who keep them safe," he said.
Saturday will be the final night of the carnival. The grounds will be open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Parking and admission are free, with extra costs for ride tickets and food. Bracelets are available for $20 for unlimited rides for the evening.
