Norwalk Grassroots Tennis is a nonprofit that helps children from low-income families through tennis, education, life skills and leadership programs.

The festival will take place from Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, Fairfield.

Doors to the Burr Homestead will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec 5; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. For an additional fee, there are special events, beginning with a “Sip ‘N’ Shop Preview” from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.

“We are thrilled to work with an organization whose mission is to help inner-city youth through sport to build confidence, improve academic performance, teach leadership and eventually return from college as mentors and role models,” said festival president Colleen Murphy.

The festival is an independent, nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to raise money for local community projects. More than $3.7 million has been raised since its inception in 1981.

Festival attendees can create holiday wreaths, browse designer decorated rooms, purchase handmade trees and wreaths, take a photo with Santa, and shop the holiday gift boutique.

There will be several special events throughout the festival, Murphy said, including celebrity tennis pros Gigi Fernandez and Patrick McEnroe attending two of the events.
