Fairfield Museum Offers Up Fall Fun For Families

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Museum is serving up a variety of programming for children and families for the fall.

The lineup is “full of interactive programs designed for families, friends, and children of all ages to explore the museum’s exhibitions and to inspire a lifelong love of history,” according to Christine Jewell, director of education and community programs. 

In addition, the museum’s golf exhibition, “Fairfield’s Fairways: 150 Years of Golf,” will close Sunday with a Family Focus event. 

Here’s what’s on the fall schedule: 

  • Family Focus: Golf! Sunday, 2-3 p.m. Program is free for members, or free with admission. Admission $5 for adults; $3 for students; free for children ages 5 and younger. 
  • Family Focus: Veterans Day, ages 5-10. Wednesday, November 11, 10:30-12 p.m. Celebrate American heroes with gallery activities, crafts and storytelling. View historic uniforms, from the Civil War to Vietnam. Event is free. 
  • Giving Thanks with Handmade Sunday, Nov. 22, 2-4 p.m. Submit your favorite Thanksgiving traditions on the museum’s Thankful Wall and create handmade crafts inspired by Native American culture. Event is free for members, or free with admission. Admission $5 for adults; $3 for students; free for children ages 5 and younger. 
  • After School Classes for Children: Miss Annie’s Museum Munchkins, ages 4-6; Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Session 1: Oct. 7-Dec. 9. Join Miss Annie of Great Beginnings Montessori School to celebrate holidays and explore the history of Fairfield. Sessions will include stories, crafts and viewing the Museum’s fascinating exhibits. Members $200; nonmembers $250. Register for all three sessions and get 10 percent off.
  • History By Hand Club, ages 8-12; Tuesdays, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Session 1: Nov. 10, 17, 24 and Dec. 1, 8 and 15. Join other creative kids to learn art, design and sewing and to develop confidence and problem-solving skills along the way. Students discover their own talents, creating sewing and collage projects—including decoupage and quilting--inspired by history. Members $95; nonmembers $125, plus $25 supply fee. Sign up for all three sessions and get 10 percent off.
