Fairfield Museum Plans Presidents Day Family Fun

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Looking for a way to spend quality time with your children over Presidents Day weekend? The Fairfield Museum and History Center is running two programs that will include history, art and fun.

Family Focus: Gear Up! will be held Friday, Feb. 12, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is for ages 5 and up. What do you want to be when you grow up? Kids can enter the 375 years of history in the Creating Community exhibition to enjoy fun, hands-on activities. Experience a day in the life of a Native American, a patriot, a sailor or gold miner. This a free event.

Family Focus: Paint a Portrait will be held Monday, Feb. 15, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m., for ages 5 plus. Can you create a painting based on a selfie or school picture? Bring your own photos or a smartphone to create your own self-portraits in the museum's galleries. Explore portrait paintings from presidents to Eunice Dennie Burr and create your own selfie painting. This is a free event.

Admission to the museum is $5 for adults; $3 for students and seniors. Admission is free for members of the museum and children under the age of 5. For more information, call 203-259-1598 or visit Fairfieldhistory.org.
