The PAL event is open to amateurs who want to try their hand at creating artwork at the beach. The contest will take place on the sandbar at Penfield Beach from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Rain date Aug. 14)

Just look for the PAL sign at Penfield Beach on the day of the event. Interested participants may register as teams or as individuals. Individual entrants must be 18 years old or under and teams must include at least one member 18 or under. Families are encouraged to enter as a team and work together on a creation.

Only objects found in nature may be included in the sculpture. Participants should bring any tools that they’ll need to create their “masterpiece”.

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Best Castle, Most Original Sculpture, Most Realistic Sculpture, and Most Artistic Creation.

The creations have been impressive in previous years and included simple shapes, mermaids, alligators, castles, cars, current events, just about anything one can think of.

Participants have ranged from very young to grandparents helping with family team entries. All are welcome.

There is no charge for this event, but registration is required. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration forms will be available at the event. There is no pre-registration.
