Event volunteers and participants will gather at Fairfield's First Church Congregational on 148 Beach Road at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the previous year’s achievements and to learn about what is planned for the coming year.

Relay For Life of Fairfield is an overnight walk-a-thon that unites the Fairfield, Easton and Bridgeport communities in the fight against cancer.

At Relay, teams set up campsites and take turns walking the track overnight and enjoying entertainment, activities and special ceremonies throughout the night.

It is a way to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones and fight back against the disease.

Teams of friends, family members, school groups and businesses raise money in the months leading up to the event.

In 2013, 1,866 registered participants on 176 teams helped to raise $298,496 through Relay For Life of Fairfield to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life of Fairfield will be celebrating 17 years in town at this year’s event, scheduled for June 7-8 at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

Join the Relay For Life of Fairfield Volunteer Planning Committee at the Kickoff Rally for information about how to form a team for the event, become a corporate sponsor or help as a volunteer.
