FAIRFIELD, Conn. – More than 60 trucks and emergency vehicles, including new fire engines, construction rigs and mammoth over-the-road trucks will roll into Fairfield on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a first-of-its-kind Touch a Truck event in the parking lot of Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

The family-friendly event is being presented by The Barnum Festival and Julian Enterprises with partial proceeds to benefit The Center for Family Justice, the Bridgeport-based nonprofit that supports victims of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse in six local communities.

Jason Julian, the principle of Milford-based Julian Enterprises, is this year’s official ringmaster of The Barnum Festival.

“Julian Enterprises is proud to be sponsoring and collaborating with The Barnum Festival on new event that is attractive to families and children,” said Julian. “We’re very excited about seeing kids and families climbing up into the big rigs, taking pictures and enjoying a family day out. I’m especially happy to see that a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Center for Family Justice and the wonderful programs The Center brings to the greater Bridgeport Community.”

Debra A. Greenwood, president and CEO of The Center for Family Justice, said she was “grateful to Julian Enterprises and The Barnum Festival for planning this terrific event which is sure to be a hit with kids young and old. Since part of our mission is focused on creating stronger, healthier families it is an honor to be the beneficiary of such a great community activity.”

The Barnum Festival was founded in 1948 as a way to build community spirit as well as to honor Bridgeport’s most famous resident, Phineas Taylor Barnum – world-renowned showman, businessman and community leader. The Barnum Festival celebrates the great showman with the annual celebration from mid-May through June and in true Barnum tradition, a Ringmaster is appointed each year to entertain attendees while promoting the greater Bridgeport region.

The event is rain or shine. Admission is $4 per person and children under 3 are free of charge.

Fairfield Ludlowe High School is located at 785 Unquowa Road, Fairfield.

The Center for Family Justice brings all domestic, sexual and child abuse services under one roof in Bridgeport. It serves Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.
