Up and coming designer Vaughn Sims from the University of Bridgeport will be featured in the show.

The scholarship funding is for “in need” students to participate in the theatre's production of "Oliver!" , a reinvented version version that is multi-ethnic, multi-gendered and multi-generational.

Hostess/MC Randye Kaye will describe Sims's fashions.

Sim is designing and building a completely unique line of fashion-wear made of recycled materials and trash that will be modeled in the fashion show and worn in the "Oliver!" production as well.

This production is also a collaboration with the Greater Bridgeport Council of churches and their soup kitchen, pantry, youth programming and NPT’s Broadway professionals.

The updated production can shine a spotlight on the council’s work in the Bridgeport community through the actual themes presented in the musica, of homelessness, hunger and poverty, said a release.

The event is at 3 p.m. at the Fairfield Circle Inn, 417 Post Road, Fairfield.
