The concert will feature performances by the full Glee Club, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians, the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony and The Chamber Singers and will include the world premiere of “But Now I See” by Robert Schwartz.

General admission tickets are $10 and $6 for students. The Glee Club will start the evening with the “Star-Spangled Banner,” commemorating the 250th anniversary of the composing of what is now the national anthem, and continue through a program of primarily American music, including “On My Own” from “Les Miserables,” “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from “Funny Girl” and selections from “Avenue Q.”

The performance features the premiere of Schwartz’ “But Now I See” scored for choir, soloists and percussion. The composition is a medley of spirituals, beginning with “Sign of the Judgment” and including “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Get Down Moses.”

The Fairfield University Glee Club, founded in 1947, is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus. The Glee Club numbers more than 130 undergraduate and graduate singers. It is the parent organization of two additional choral ensembles, Sweet Harmony and The Bensonians.

The Fairfield University Chamber Singers is the first mixed choir on campus. Founded in 1982 by Maxwell and Orin Grossman, it is an ensemble of auditioned singers, whose advanced repertoire, both sacred and secular, have led to a wide acclaim in the area.
