The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m.

This annual community gathering includes a bonfire on the Great Lawn tended by Fairfield Boy Scout Troop 82, and a caroling performance by vocalist and Easton resident Katherine Waugh, and her handpicked choir.

Waugh plays clarinet, tenor sax and piano, but truly excels as a vocalist. A member of her church and school choirs from an early age, Waugh is currently a member of the Barlow Select Choir and A Cappella singing group. Since 2007 she has been a member and soloist with the Fairfield County Children’s Choir, appearing at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna and Dvorak Hall in Prague.

Also, horse-drawn carriage rides through the Southport Village will be offered. The event is open to the public. Admission is one unwrapped new book, which the Pequot Library will donate to a Bridgeport children's literacy initiative.

New this year will be New York City Teaching Artists facilitating hands-on art activities tailored to children ages 7 and over.

The festive events will populate Pequot Library’s auditorium/concert hall, reading room and great lawn.

The Pequot Library is located at 720 Pequot Ave., Southport.
