While speaking with the three men, police said that Steven Townsend, of Roosevelt, was ordered to exit the backseat when a bulge in his waistband was spotted.

Townsend was searched and a loaded black semi-automatic handgun was found on him, and he was taken into custody by officers.

Townsend, 30, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and false personation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
