This series of four lectures will trace the Vietnamese struggle for independence against the encroachments of Western Imperialism—a struggle that not only saw the defeat of France, but the later humbling of the world’s ranking superpower – the United States. The lecture will focus on The People’s War.

  • Thursday, Oct. 22: “Dien Bien Phu: French Defeat, American Albatross”
  • Thursday, Nov. 5: “Horseback to Helicopter”
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17: “Defeat of a Superpower”

Albertson is the historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine in Monroe and is a longtime member of the United States Naval Institute. He is both an author and professor of history at Norwalk Community College.
