Norwalk Man Charged With Selling Cocaine In Darien

DARIEN, CONN. -- A 45-year-old Norwalk man is facing several criminal drug charges after Darien police connected him with drug-selling activities in the southeastern section of Darien, police said.

Salvatore Vento, of Flintlock Road in Norwalk, has been charged with with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and operating a drug factory, police said. He is free after posting $10,000 bond, and due in Stamford Superior Court at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19.

Police said the arrest comes after several weeks of investigation into drug-selling activities in southeastern Darien near I-95. After getting search warrants, Darien police, along with Norwalk narcotics officers, stopped his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado on Monday, Feb. 8, on West Cedar Street in Norwalk, police said.

During the search, they found 4.6 grams of cocaine, individually packaged for sale, police said. After making the arrest, police searched his home and found about $3,000 in cash, a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, 18.4 grams of cocaine, scales, baggies and other packaging materials, police said.

Police seized all items, including his car. Police said the gun is legally registered.
