Details, IDs Released In Stolen Vehicle Crash That Killed 2, Hurt 3 In Newark

Authorities have released details and identified one of the two people killed in a crash involving a stolen vehicle this week in Newark.

Felix Valdez, 47, of New York, and an unidentified female died after the Acura they were riding in was struck by a Dodge Charger reported stolen out of Union around 4:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of West Runyon and Elizabeth Avenue Stephens said alongside Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. At least three females in the Charger were injured.

Two males were also believed to have been in the Charger, but they fled on foot, authorities said. 

The investigation is active and ongoing. At this time, no arrests have been made.
