On Tuesday, Meet Fire Chief Al at 4 p.m.; then on Tuesday, June 30, Meet Ruger, the K-9 Police Dog and Officer Wells.
Until Friday, July 17, kids can enter the Community Heroes Contest. The programs are free, open to the public, and no registration is required.
On Tuesday from 4-5 p.m., kids of all ages can learn what happens in a day in the life of a fire chief. Fire Chief Al from Ocean Beach, N.J., will talk with children about his job. Activity sheets will be provided.
On June 30 from 4-5 p.m., Officer Wells, from the Fairfield Police Department will explain Ruger's training and duties, which include sniffing for clues to catch bad guys and helping find missing persons.
Children are invited to participate in Pequot Library’s Meet Our Local Heroes -- Community Heroes Contest.” Kids ages 7 and older can submit a 100- to 200-word essay describing a hero in the community whose story they want to share.
Entries must be accompanied by a photo or drawing of the subject.
Drop off entries through Friday, July 17, at Pequot Library during normal library hours. There will be a fall reception to honor these heroes.
