FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Studio Fairfield invites the community to a free pottery workshop on Saturday, Nov. 2, to create clay bowls for Operation Hope clients. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants will learn basic techniques of working with clay, and the first 15 to sign up will get a chance to throw their bowl on a pottery wheel.
In addition to sculpting the bowls, participants will be encouraged to stamp a message of hope into them.
“We love the idea of a handmade bowl that people can use over and over again being gifted at this time of year. It is a beautiful and useful reminder to that person who is struggling that someone truly cares," said Carla Miklos, Operation Hope’s executive director.
Operation Hope is a nonprofit organization that operates a shelter, food pantry and a community kitchen, open 365 days a year.
The Studio requests donations of cereal boxes to be paired with each bowl created.
The Studio Fairfield is at the Sportsplex (Building B), 85 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield.
