Identity Theft Case Tops Mount Kisco Police Blotter

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- A Mount Kisco resident reported that he was the victim of identity theft to the Westchester County Police precinct on Green Street.

The victim received a collection agency notice of an unpaid bill at a Tennessee hospital he had never visited, police said. Detectives opened an investigation. 

These are among other items on the police blotter in Mount Kisco:

  • Thursday, Feb. 25 – 10:44 a.m. – A village resident reported that she was the victim of attempted credit card fraud. Her wallet was recently lost and someone attempted to use one of her cards to purchase shoes online. An investigation into the attempted fraud is continuing.
  • 10:19 a.m. – Westchester County Police responded to a residence on South Bedford Road to aid a woman who had difficulty breathing. She was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center. 
  • 6:55 a.m. – Westchester County Police and the Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to a report of fallen electrical wires on Sarles Street. The street was closed until utility crews fixed the issue.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 24 – 11:30 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to an activated burglar alarm at TJ Maxx. The alarm was activated in error by workers remodeling the store.
  • 1:35 p.m. – A 55-year-old Mahopac woman was struck by a car while crossing East Main Street in front of the TD Bank branch. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene and transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 23 – 8:33 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to a report from Northern Westchester Hospital Center that a patient in the Behavioral Health Center was being combative with hospital staff. Officers calmed the man and persuaded him to comply with staff. 
  • Monday, Feb. 22 – 3:57 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to assist an elderly man on Diplomat Drive who had taken a fall. It was determined he did not need to go to the hospital.
  • 10:12 a.m. – A village resident reported that she was bitten by a dog while waking on Croton Avenue. The suspected dog was located, and the county Health Department was notified. An investigation on the incident is continuing.
  • Sunday, Feb. 21 – 7:30 p.m. – Brian Placona, 25, of West Hyatt Avenue surrendered to the Mount Kisco precinct. Placona was charged with criminal contempt 2nd degree, a misdemeanor. He is accused of sending text messages to a person he is barred from contacting under a Westchester County Family Court order. Placona was arraigned before village Justice John Donohue and released on his own recognizance.
