A single-car crash killed a man after he lost control of his vehicle on Long Island.

The crash took place at 7:10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Center Moriches, said the Suffolk County Police.

According to detectives, a 2000 Lincoln was traveling southbound on Brookfield Avenue when the vehicle left the road and struck residential mailboxes and then slammed into a tree.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
