Send Us Your Photos From Take Your Child To Work Day, Fairfield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Did you bring your son or daughter to work today?

For this year's Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, President Barack Obama asks employers to reach out to young people who don't have a workplace to visit.

Originally founded in 1993 in response to research that found many girls lacked confidence and dropped out of school by ninth grade, and called the Take Our Daughters to Work Program, the concept has evolved over the years to Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work so that boys, who are subject to many of the same problems, could also benefit.

The Day is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday in April. This year, the theme is #MPOWR which stands for "Knowledge + Choice = Strength."

According to Carolyn McKecuen, executive director of the North Carolina-based Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Foundation, more than 39 million employees at over four million U.S. workplaces are expected to particpate.

In this age of selfies, no doubt you (or your child) snapped a photo of his/her day at the office. Send it to jmuchnick@dailyvoice.com along with any lessons they gleaned and we'll happily post.
