Southport's Pequot Library Hosts Book Vs. Movie Debates

SOUTHPORT, Conn. – The Pequot Library in Southport is hosting a series of casual debates on books vs. movies.

Those who wish to participate are encouraged to read the book and see the movie to be discussed, and then come to the library to debate which was better. These sessions are free and open to the public.

Registration is encouraged. Here is the schedule: 

• Aug. 20, 11:30 a.m. – "The Hundred-Foot Journey," led by Robyn Filippone. The movie will be released Aug. 8.

• Aug. 22, 5 p.m. – "The Giver," co-led by Adair Heitmann and a tween or teen volunteer. Pizza will be included. The movie will be released Aug. 15.

• Sept. 24, 11:30 a.m. – "This is Where I Leave You," led by Vicki Konopka. The movie will be released Sept. 12.

• Sept. 26, 5 p.m. – "The Maze Runner," co-led by Marianne Pysarchyk and a tween or teen volunteer. Pizza will be included. The movie will be released Sept. 19.

• Oct. 15, 11:30 a.m. – "Gone Girl," led by. Denise Martin. The movie will be released Oct. 3.
