Jacob Rubinstein, 42, of Elkton, pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography on Tuesday, March 21, the office reports. He faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentenced of 20 years followed by a lifetime of parole, the office reports.

Over the course of their investigation, authorities found more than 2,000 pornographic images in Rubinstein’s possession. The victims ranged from prepubescent toddlers to teenagers, the office reports.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) sent a cybertip report to Maryland State Police on September 4, 2022, the office reports. The report involved a user, with the email “jaker1301@protonmail.com,” suspected to be possessing and distributing child pornography through a social media platform. The email and user were linked to an IP address at Rubinstein’s home, the office reports.

The NCMEC got another tip under the same email on February 4, 2021 and investigators thereafter discovered Rubinstein was communicating with minors and distributing child pornography to others. There was even one instance where Rubinstein sent a video graphically showing a prepubescent girl’s exposed genitals to a user on an instant messaging application, the office reports.

Overall, investigators found over 1,160 pictures and 970 videos of child pornography, including a two-hour video compilation depicting the sexual abuse of various minors. Rubinstein’s sentencing is scheduled for June 21, 2022.
