Bridgeport Bluefish Brewery Bash Benefits Fairfield's CT Challenge

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - It may be the dead of winter with record low temperatures, but the Bridgeport Bluefish are looking forward to summer and baseball games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard and hosting a big "Brewfish" charity event this week.

The team’s next big event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford to support support Fairfield-based CT Challenge.

New Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg will be greeting fans as they check out all the unique brews Two Roads has to offer.

“We’re excited to once again partner with Two Roads Brewing Company and CT Challenge for this special event,” said Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole. “This will be a great opportunity to network with local businesses and individuals, and tour the Two Roads facility, all while supporting a great charity.”

Director of Player Development Paul Herrmann added, “We did the initial event last year with New York Mets legend Buddy Harrelson, and it just went great. So we think this might become a winter tradition."

Individual tickets may be purchased at $35, with proceeds benefiting CT Challenge. This includes an invitation to the event along with food and two beverage vouchers. In addition, tours of Two Roads brewery will also be available.

The mission of CT Challenge is to empower cancer survivors to live healthier, happier, and longer lives by creating and funding unique survivorship programs, offering credible resources, and building a broad community of support.

The Bluefish also made news last week they offered Brian Williams, the suspended NBC news anchor, a paid internship with the team while the New Canaan residents serves his suspension. The Fish would pay Williams a monthly stipend of $500 for his services writing up game summaries.

"Our thought is to get Brian’s assistance in writing game reports following any Bluefish losses in 2015," said Toole.  The GM said Williams will be called up to the Bridgeport Bluefish intern staff effective immediately upon signing a contract.
