The opening reception for her "A Palette of Emotions” exhibit will be held on Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at The Watermark, located at 3030 Park Ave. on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.

Manfroi is scheduled to discuss her work at the event, which will include light refreshments and entertainment by singer-guitarist Warren Bloom.

Manfroi’s art mainly consists of acrylic paintings done on canvas. The Brazilian-born artist credits her inspiration to the natural beauty found in the animals and foliage that surrounded her growing up.

“We are thrilled to welcome Monica to our gallery and hope that our residents and guests will take this opportunity to view her beautiful works of art,” said Marlane Argianas, resident services coordinator at The Watermark. “Not only does Monica have a wonderful exhibit, but an interesting background on how she became an artist, one that we think people will find fascinating.”

Manfroi's parents were both artists, and she caught the bug at an early age, helping her father create a mosaic at their home. Emigrating to America in the early 1990s, she decided to make art her career.

In addition to the works at The Watermark, her art has been displayed at galleries in Stamford and New York City, as well as in private collections in the United States, Brazil and Germany.

This exhibit is free to the public, and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. For more information, call The Watermark at 203-374-5611.
