The Amazing Animal Alphabet of Twenty-Six Tongue Twisters: 4 to 5 p.m. An hour of back-to-school celebration with local author, illustrator and graphic designer Robert Pizzo as he reads from his new children's book, "The Amazing Animal Alphabet of Twenty-Six Tongue Twisters." He has assembled an assortment of sticky syllables into 26 tiny, tongue twisting tales, one for every letter of the alphabet. Free. Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road.

Walk or Run For Hope: 9 a.m. The fundraising walk-run helps to support CancerCare’s free, professional services, available to anyone facing a cancer diagnosis. The Big Steak Dinner: 4 p.m. The season’s last patio wine dinner will be dry ageing prime grade porterhouse steaks, grilled on outdoor BBQ. This annual event will showcase some great wines from Catalunya. Chef Helton Da Silva will be preparing the full menu, each course paired with dynamic wines from the Spanish portfolio of Classic Wines in conjunction with William Miller of Harry's Wine And Liquor Market. Holy Cross Church American And Slovenian Picnic: Noon to 6 p.m. An annual picnic starting with a Polka Mass at 11 a.m. and live entertainment by the Polka Quads of PA starting at noon. Slovenian and American foods prepared by the parishioners followed by children's games, crafts and raffles. Admission is free, and food and drinks are available for purchase.
