What To Do In Fairfield This Weekend

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Belated trick-or-treating, master storytellers and a range of concerts fill Fairfield’s calendar this weekend. Here’s a list of events happening in and around Fairfield over the next few days. Visit our Events page for more to do.

Friday, Nov. 9

"Downton Abbey" Screening: 6 p.m. The Pequot Library begins a series of group screenings of the BBC show “Downton Abbey.” Bring a meal and beverages and watch the first two episodes of the series. Admission is free, but registration is required by calling 203-259-0349, Ext. 19, or emailing pysarchyk@pequotlibrary.org. 720 Pequot Ave.

Aztec Two-Step Concert: 7:45 p.m. Folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step performs at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $47 at the door, or $42 in advance at the theater box office. 70 Sanford St.

Brooklyn Rider Concert: 8 p.m. Multigenre string quartet Brooklyn Rider plays at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts. Professor Alan Murchie leads a discussion at 7:15 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $35 at the theater box office. 1073 N. Benson Road.

Saturday, Nov. 10

Trunk-or-Treat: 1 to 4 p.m. Fairfield town employees, police and firefighters hand out candy to kids in costume in the north parking lot of the Fairfield Center train station. To volunteer to help, arrive at noon and look for the D.A.R.E. car. There is no charge to participate. 150 Unquowa Road.

Music for Youth: Paul Huang: 2 p.m. Award-winning violinist Paul Huang performs at the Pequot Library in Southport. Admission is free. 720 Pequot Ave.

The Brothers Grimm: 3:30 p.m. Storyteller Tom Lee shares a few Brothers Grimm fairytales at the Pequot Library, complete with a roaring fire and hot cider. Admission is free. 720 Pequot Ave.

A Benefit Concert for Aunt Terry: 7:45 p.m. Local group the Dini Band and guest John Pioli put on a benefit show for nonprofit group Aunt Terry at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets range from $30 to $50 at the theater box office. 70 Sanford St.

Sunday, Nov. 11

“The Civil War Doctor’s Wife:” 2 p.m. Mary Lou Pavlik performs a one-woman show at the Fairfield Museum and History Center. Paclik acts out the experience of her ancestor, Mary Ann Lewis Bronson, when her husband went to serve the Union Army during the Civil War. Tickets are $8, or $5 for museum members. 370 Beach Road

Bridgeport Sound Tigers vs. Connecticut Whale: 3 p.m. The Sound Tigers take on their in-state rivals at the Webster Bank Arena. Tickets range from $15 to $47 plus fees at the arena box office. 600 Main St., Bridgeport.

Jerry Douglas Concert: 8 p.m. Bluegrass musician Jerry Douglas performs at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $70 at the door, or $65 in advance at the theater box office. 70 Sanford St.
