What To Do In Fairfield This Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield’s first-ever Restaurant Week hits town this week, but there is plenty more to do around Fairfield other than dining out. Here’s a collection of events happening in and around Fairfield over the next few days. Visit our events listings for more to do.

Monday, Oct. 15

Fairfield Restaurant Week: Fairfield restaurants and businesses will have special menus, discounts and activities for Fairfield’s first Restaurant Week, which begins Sunday. For more information, visit the event website .

“Dolley Madison: America’s Hostess:” 6:30 p.m. Fairfield University Professor Mona Garcia continues her four-part lecture series on women in the American Revolution at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library. Admission is free. 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

America and the Civil War Book Club: Noon. Fairfield Museum and History Center Librarian Elizabeth Rose leads a talk on Tony Horwitz’s “Midnight Rising” at the museum. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. Visitors are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. 370 Beach Road.

Book Signing and Reading: Maria Judge: 7 p.m. Author Maria Judge talks about her book “Jake Hanna: The Rhythm and Wit of a Swinging Jazz Drummer” at the Fairfield University Bookstore. Admission is free. 1499 Post Road.

Turning Points in History: America, Europe and the War of 1812: 7 p.m. Historian Mark Albertson leads a discussion commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 at the Fairfield Public Library. Admission is free. 1080 Old Post Road.

ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike: 7 p.m. Sports talk show hosts Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg speak at Sacred Heart University’s Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $20 through the theater’s website . 5151 Park Ave.

Open Visions: Jo Yarrington: 6 p.m. Artist Jo Yarrington gives a lecture titled “The Falling Edge: Iceland, Venezuela, Bhutan: A Discourse on Place as a Destination” at Fairfield’s University’s DiMenna-Nyselius Library. Admission is free. 1073 N. Benson Road.

Jon McLaughlin Concert: 7:30 p.m. Pop/rock singer-songwriter Jon McLaughlin performs at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $26 at the door or $22 in advance at the theater’s website . 70 Sanford St.

Thursday, Oct. 18

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey “Fully Charged”: 7 p.m. The world-famous circus begins a four-night stay at Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena. Tickets range from $19.75 to $100.25 via Ticketmaster . 600 Main St., Bridgeport.
