What To Do In Fairfield This Weekend

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Here are a few highlights of things to do in and around Fairfield this weekend, including annual holiday traditions and an exhibit featuring the work of a legendary poet. See our Events calendar for more items.

Friday, Nov. 30

Town Green Christmas Tree Lighting: 6 p.m. Fairfield lights its 90-foot Christmas tree on Town Hall Green. The event starts with performances from the Bridgeport Theatre Company, middle school choirs and the Fairfield Warde Choral group, and also features a visit from Santa. 611 Old Post Road.

Holiday Express Train Show Opening Night: 7 to 9 p.m. The Fairfield Museum and History Center opens its annual model train show to the public. The exhibition continues throughout December during the museum’s normal hours. 370 Beach Road.

Saturday, Dec. 1 Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local interior designers have decorated the rooms of Fairfield’s historic Burr Homestead for the holiday season, and opened up the house for tours to benefit local charities. The fundraiser also is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and includes special events throughout the weekend. 739 Old Post Road.

Sunday, Dec. 2 “Angels Sing:” 3 p.m. The Fairfield County Children’s Choir performs its annual Christmas show at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport. The kids will sing a collection of holiday classics and a new piece by Venezuelan composer Christian Grases, among other numbers. 900 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport

Good Wishes from Robert Frost: 4 to 6 p.m. The Pequot Library has an opening reception for its latest exhibit, “Good Wishes from Robert Frost.” The display features a collection of holiday cards printed by Frost and a series of artists. The exhibit continues through Jan 6. 720 Pequot Ave.
