Friday, Sept. 21
“Dreaming Out Loud” Opening Reception: 6:30 to 9 p.m. Southport’s Troy Fine Art opens an exhibit featuring the work of R. John Ichter. The exhibit is on display through Oct. 19, but the artist will be on hand Friday for a live presentation and opening reception. There is no charge, but an RSVP is required by contacting troyart@snet.net. 3310 Post Road.
Café Music with Andrew Lane: 7 p.m. Acoustic rock and folk musician Andrew Lane gives a free show in the Fairfield University Bookstore. 1499 Post Road.
Saturday, Sept. 22
Fairfield Kiwanis Craft Fair: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield hosts its annual craft fair. Along with vendors selling their crafts, there will be a farmers market, music and activities for kids, including a touch tank from the Maritime Aquarium. The event continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free. Town Hall Green at Old Post and Beach roads.
Card Making Workshop: 10 a.m. Nicki Shopis of Stampin' Up leads a class on hand-making cards using ink and stamps. All materials will be provided, and the class is free. Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.
Antique and Classic Car Show: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fairfield Elks Club holds a car show featuring antique and classic cars, food and music. Admission is free to look, $10 to enter a car. 452 Brookside Drive
Author Meet and Greet: Maggie Lord: Noon to 4 p.m. The author of “Rustic Wedding Chic” signs copies of her book. Admission is free. Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road.
Joe Louis Walker Concert: 7:30 p.m. Blues guitarist Joe Louis Walker performs. Tickets are $29 at the door or $25 in advance at the theater’s website. Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne, 70 Sanford St.
Carolina Chocolate Drops Concert: 8 p.m. North Carolina folk band Carolina Chocolate Drops plays. Tickets range from $25 to $40 at the theater box office. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, 1073 N. Benson Road.
Sunday, Sept. 23
Bike and Hike the Beach: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bikers and hikers are invited to ride or walk to raise money for local charities, including the Kennedy Center. Registration is $45 for bikes and $35 for walkers, and available online. The event begins at Jennings Beach in Fairfield.
An Afternoon with The Beatles: 1 to 4 p.m. Bruce Pollack, author of “If You Like The Beatles,” talks about his research while local artists Sam and Dave perform the band’s hits. Admission is free. Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road.
Meet the Author: Charlotte Rogan: 4 p.m. The author of “The Lifeboat” will talk about her work. The talk is followed by a book signing and refreshments. Admission is free. at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport.
"When the Levee Breaks: A Requiem in Four Acts:" 3 p.m. Spike Lee’s documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina New Orleans will be screened. Admission is free, but tickets are required and available at the theater website. Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts, 1073 N. Benson Road.
Project/Object Concert: 7:30 p.m. Frank Zappa tribute band Project/Object performs. Tickets are $29 at the door or $25 in advance at the theater’s website. Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne, 70 Sanford St.
