FAIRFIELD, Conn. – An Olympian, teddy bears and Eagles are among those coming to Fairfield for events this weekend. Here’s a collection of some of the events happening in and around Fairfield over the next few days.
Friday, Aug. 10
Closing Ceremonies with Kristine Lilly: 3:30 p.m. Olympic gold medalist Kristine Lilly and the Fairfield Public Library staff will finish the library’s summer reading program. Lilly will talk about her record-setting pro and international socer career and help hand out medals to young readers. Admission is free. 1080 Old Post Road.
Café Music with Fred and Ethel: 7 p.m. Acoustic rock duo Fred and Ethel performs at the Fairfield University Bookstore. Admission is free. 1499 Post Road.
Bridgeport Bluefish vs. Camden Riversharks: 7:05 p.m. The Bluefish begin a three-game series at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Tickets range from $8 to $20 at the team’s website. Games are also scheduled for Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday at 2:05 p.m. 500 Main St., Bridgeport.
The Who’s “Tommy:” 8 p.m. The Fairfield Teen Theatre wraps up its summer session with a performance of the classic rock opera in the auditorium of Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors and are available by calling 203-273-9464. Shows will be Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. 785 Unquowa Road.
Saturday, Aug. 11
Bottle and Can Drive: 9 a.m. to noon. The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department holds its monthly collection of recyclable cans and bottles to raise money for their work. Bring clean, deposit-bearing items to their firehouse to help the cause. 400 Jackman Ave.
Teddy Bear Fest: Noon to 3 p.m. FC Buzz Goes Live hosts an event at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. Kids are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to the zoo for crafts, games and an educational program on how to deal with real-life bears. The program is free for kids under 12 with a paying adult. Adult admission is $12. 1875 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.
Alternate Routes Concert: 7:30 p.m. Alternative rock band Alternate Routes performs at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $26 at the door or $22 in advance through the theater’s website. 70 Sanford St.
Umphrey’s McGee Concert: 9 p.m. Jam band Umphrey’s McGee performs at the Klein Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $30 at the door or $25 in advance through the theater’s website. 910 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport.
Sunday, Aug. 12
Ogden House Tour: 1 p.m. Teachers from the Fairfield Museum and History Center lead a tour of the historic Ogden House, featuring a lesson on life in Colonial-era Fairfield. Admission is $3. 1520 Bronson Road.
An Eagles Experience Concert: 7 p.m. Eagles cover band An Eagles Experience performs. The concert is free as part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series. Sherman Green, at Post Road and Reef Road.
