What's Happening In Fairfield This Weekend

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A country fair and a kids’ fishing tournament highlight this weekend’s calendar in Fairfield. Here’s a collection of events happening in and around Fairfield over the next few days. Visit our events listings for more to do.

Friday, Aug. 17

Rainforest Reptiles Show: 10 a.m. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo offers an educational program on snakes, alligators and other reptiles. The presentation is free with zoo admission, which is $12 for adults and $10 for kids and senior citizens. Repeat shows are at 12:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 1875 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.

Bridgeport Bluefish vs. Somerset Patriots: 7:05 p.m. The Bluefish continue an eight-game home stand at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Tickets range from $8 to $20 at the stadium box office. Games are also scheduled for Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday at 2:05 p.m. 500 Main St., Bridgeport

Saturday, Aug. 18

Greenfield Hill Grange Agricultural Fair: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Greenfield Hill Grange hosts a traditional farmer’s fair, complete with agricultural competitions, fresh food, music and games. Admission is free. 1873 Hillside Ave.

Author Meet and Greet: Noon to 3 p.m. Fairfield native Hannah Kaminsky discusses and signs copies of her book “Vegan a la Mode” at the Fairfield University Bookstore. The event is free to attend, and copies of the book will be on sale. 1499 Post Road

Town Hall Green Walking Tour: 2 p.m. The Fairfield Museum and History Center offers a tour of the Fairfield Town Green, featuring stories about the town’s Colonial era and the British attack on Fairfield during the American Revolution. Tickets are $7 or $5 for museum members. 370 Beach Road

Sunday, Aug. 19

PTA Flea Market: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Fairfield Warde PTA holds its monthly flea market, featuring clothing, crafts and other items for sale. This month’s market has been moved to Fairfield Ludlowe High School because of construction at the normal location. 785 Unquowa Road

PAL Snapper Blue Tournament: 11 a.m. The Fairfield Police Activities League sponsors its annual kids’ fishing tournament at the South Benson Marina. Boys and girls ages 3 to 15 can enter to win prizes for first snapper, biggest fish and other categories. Free. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. 888 S. Benson Road

Memphis Soul Spectacular: 7 p.m. Southern-style soul group Memphis Soul Spectacular performs on Sherman Green, at the intersection of Post Road and Reef Road. The concert is free as part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series.
