Friday, Sept. 7
St. Dimitrie Church Festival: 5 to 9 p.m. Easton’s St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church holds its annual fall festival featuring Romanian food and music as well as other activities. Admission is free. The festival continues Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. 504 Sport Hill Road, Easton.
Café Music with Eric Zolan: 7 p.m. Jazz guitarist Eric Zolan performs. There is no charge for admission. Fairfield University Bookstore downtown, 1499 Post Road.
Pythagoras Concert: 7:30 p.m. Pianist Eugene Sirotkine leads a group through selections by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. Tickets are $30 at the library’s website. Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave.
Saturday, Sept. 8
Punt, Pass and Kick Contest: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Fairfield Police Activities League hosts a Punt, Pass and Kick competition for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. Top finishers in each age group will go on to regional competitions for the chance to compete at halftime during an NFL game. The contest is free to enter. Fairfield Day at the Beardsley Zoo: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families with proof of Fairfield residence get into Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo at a discounted rate of $5 per person all day. 1875 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.
Talk with Photographer Dave Pressler: 11 a.m. to noon. Photographer Dave Pressler talks about his new exhibit, “Let’s Face It.” The event is free. Fairfield University Bookstore downtown, 1499 Post Road.
Ash Creek Adventure: Noon. Connecticut Audubon Society teacher Colleen Noyes leads an interactive program in exploring the plant and animal life. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers and $10 for Audubon Society members. Register in advance by calling 203-259-6305, Ext. 109. Shoreline Ash Creek Open Space at the end of Turney Road.
Sunday, Sept. 9
Connecticut Family Day at the Beardsley Zoo: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo offers a discounted admission to all families as part of a program with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Admission is $5 per person. 1875 Noble Ave.
CancerCare Walk/Run for Hope: 9:30 a.m. A 5K race and walk for CancerCare’s programs steps off from Jennings Beach. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and costs $40 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. The race starts at the end of S. Benson Road.
The War of 1812: 2 p.m. The Fairfield Museum and History Center and the Daughters of the American Revolution present a program on Fairfield’s role in the War of 1812 at the museum. Admission is free. 370 Beach Road.
The Glamour Girls Concert: 6:30 p.m. Dance musicians The Glamour Girls perform. The concert is free as the last installment of the Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series. Sherman Green, at Post Road and Reef Road.
Alan Evans Trio Concert: 7:45 p.m. Funk and jazz group the Alan Evans Trio plays at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $21 at the door or $18 in advance at the theater’s website. 70 Sanford St.
