FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Theatre Company welcomes guitar band Wishbone Ash for the first time on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Formed in 1969, Wishbone Ash is credited with 24 original studio recordings, 10 live albums and four live DVDs, along with a DVD rockumentary.
With its legendary twin-guitar approach, Wishbone Ash has been cited by legendary bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd as a primary influence along with Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden and, more recently, heavyweights Opeth.
Founded and led by guitar and vocalist Andy Powell, the band is made up of Finland’s guitar wizard Muddy Manninen, bassist Bob Skeat and drummer Joe Crabtree (whose credits include Pendragon and David Cross of King Crimson).
Now Wishbone Ash will make its way across the pond in support of its tour "Pilgrimage," which is a nod to Wishbone Ash's “Pilgrimage” album.
“Each year when we tour countries on our world circuit, these visits feel like pilgrimages to all our old haunts,” Powell said. “We visit venues we've performed in multiple times over the years. We know the staff there, we often stay in the same hotels (and) visit the same restaurants. We see the same folks thousands of miles apart."
"The fans, of course, are the major component. We catch up on their stories and their lives," he said.
Yet for the Ash, this will become the first ever pilgrimage it has made to the Fairfield Theatre Company in support of its latest release, "Blue Horizon."
Fairfield Theatre Company is at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Tickets are $32 advance, $29 at the door
