Scala is the chef/owner of Barb Scala Events, specializing in event planning and cooking classes. Her recipes feature sustainable ingredients – local, seasonal, artisan, farm-fresh or organic foods prepared in her “fresh and healthy” style.

After a successful career as an attorney, Scala re-invented herself and began a new career. She is often featured on WTNH’s “Good Morning Connecticut” where she cooks up a healthy feast whenever she appears. Scala is also a certified master gardener and the author of “Sanity Savers: Tips for Women to Live a Balanced Life.” Scala grew up in Fairfield and now lives on the Connecticut shoreline.

The library’s new “What’s Cooking?” series features local chefs who share the stories behind their cooking lives as well as a favorite cookbook and recipe. The next chef to visit this spring will be vegetarian chef Selma Miriam of the Bloodroot Restaurant on May 5.
