The store is all about fresh and healthy foods, and smart values, affordable to store and town officials.

"We're all about fresh foods, and awesome teammates," said Scott Miller, SVP of Operations for Fresh Formats at bfresh. "Located right here in your 'hood, with really smart values. We're very encouraged by the reception we've gotten here in Fairfield. We're really happy to be here, and looking forward to servicing our customers.

"Everything in our kitchen, all our bread, etc., is from scratch — we make our own pasta, all ingredients are fresh."

Miller said customers like the new store.

"The response has been outstanding," he said. "People are really surprised at all the natural, organic food we have to offer."

Now open at 1262 Post Road in Fairfield, the store’s hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

It is only the second location for bfresh. The first store is located in Allston, Mass., in suburban Boston. The parent company, Ahold, also runs the Stop & Shop chain of grocery stores.
