STAMFORD, Conn. -- SpinOdyssey 2014, the 15th anniversary edition of the fun and fitness fundraiser for American Cancer Society breast cancer research, will be held Sunday, March 30, at Fairway Market in Stamford.
Hundreds of riders and volunteers will attend the six-hour stationary cycling event, which will take place rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. under a tent in the Fairway parking lot located at 699 Canal St.
SpinOdyssey has raised more than $4 million for breast cancer research and breast cancer patient and family support services. All of the money raised by SpinOdyssey participants is donated directly to research.
“Fairway Market is taking its support of SpinOdyssey to a new level as the official venue and fuel sponsor of our 2014 event,” said SpinOdyssey 2014 co-chairwoman Patty Kondub, of Westport. “Since 2011, Fairway Market has served as the official fuel sponsor of SpinOdyssey, providing our riders and volunteers with the nutrients they need to pedal for up to six hours to support breast cancer research. We are very excited to be able to bring the event to Fairway and to a new community — Stamford!”
“We are proud to be a major sponsor of SpinOdyssey 2014, and look forward to sharing our unique resources with SpinOdyssey riders and volunteers as we band together in the fight against breast cancer,” said Jackie Donovan, Vice President of Marketing for Fairway Market. “The event is simply inspirational, and a great way for Fairway to give back to our local community.”
The 2013 edition of SpinOdyssey raised $136,000 for the cause, thanks to the efforts of 225 riders and 100 volunteers. Last year's event was held in Westport. Previous SpinOdysseys were held in Norwalk.
SpinOdyssey’s focus on rallying residents of Fairfield County around the shared goal of eradicating breast cancer made it a perfect fit with Fairway Market’s giving priorities to become part of the community, rather than just being another business.
