FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Friday, Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day and if you're lucky, you can find a free cuppa at local java joints.
Dunkin Donuts, for one, is offering a complimentary medium hot coffee when you purchase a medium or large coffee.
Prefer Mickey D's? You can get a free medium McCafé beverage when you download (or if you already have) the McDonald's app.
7-Eleven offers a similar deal. From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, all 7Rewards members (or those who have downloaded the app) get a free coffee of any size — one a day if desired.
Starbucks, it should be noted, is not offering any special deals but is instead changing its signage to reflect the brand’s ethical sourcing commitments and coffee farmer support.
To support a locally owned shop, check out the coffee creations at past DVlicious contenders Lorca in Stamford, neat in Darien, Molten Java in Bethel, Source Coffeehouse in Bridgeport, Newtown's Cafe Xpresso and 2016 DVlicious "Best Coffee In Fairfield County" winner Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee in Ridgefield and Wilton.
In 2017, DVlicious "Best Coffee" went to Coffee Barn in Wilton. The Wilton cafe is, in fact, offering a free small coffee from 7 a.m. to noon for National Coffee Day.
And, at The Granola Bar in Greenwich, Stamford, and Westport, you can get a free small hot coffee all day.
Discounts abound (on all merchandise and coffee bags) at Shearwater Coffee Bar in Fairfield where you'll also find $2 (batch brewed) coffee all day (it's regularly $3).
