The restaurant at 33 Mill Plain Road in Danbury recently received a "Good" rating from The New York Times food critic Christopher Brooks. The restaurant uses fresh and local food.

"Market Place (a sister restaurant to Bambu, also in Danbury, and 189 Sports Café in Brookfield) offers several casual menu options, including a number that are intended to be shared," Brooks wrote in the review. "The crispy Point Judith calamari was a model of perfection, its legs, rings and slices of cherry peppers crusted in corn meal. I also enjoyed the Mediterranean sampler, featuring a garlicky hummus, a refreshing tomato-cucumber salad (actually more of a relish) and three crunchy, nutty falafels."

Brooks enjoyed the entrees, the wine selection, the staff and the menu, according to the review, while noting that the bill was "rather expensive."

Market Place Kitchen and Bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. To learn more about the restaurant, residents can visit the Market Place Kitchen and Bar website.
