Sessions are free but by appointment only. To schedule an appointment contact genealogy consultant Robyn Swan Filippone at filippone@pequotlibrary.org or (203) 259-0346 Ext. 15.

The sessions offer assistance specific to an individual’s own research.

“If someone is just beginning, I can give them the proper forms for keeping track of the family, their correspondence, sources they will use, etc.," Filippone said. "I also explain how to keep family trees organized, whether online, on paper, or both. Someone more experienced might have a particular problem they are trying to solve. I help by pointing them in new directions or to new sources.”

Each session is one hour with the possibility of scheduling more appointments if more time is needed.

To research a family tree, a person should bring items such as birth, marriage, divorce and death records, if available. School records, places lived and what the family member did for a living also are helpful.

Filippone has been actively working on her own genealogy research for 20 years.

The library is at 720 Pequot Ave.
